Fit Foodie 5K Race Weekend Recap at Mosaic District

The Fit Foodie 5K was held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Mosaic District. The Fit Foodie purpose was to spark interest in promoting a healthy lifestyle and delicious culinary experiences. During this event at the Mosaic District, there were a variety of vendors including chef tastings, cooking and fitness demonstrations, and a lot of Cooking Light and Health magazines.

Chop't Creative Salad Coming Soon in Vienna, VA

The coming soon signage for Chop’t, which is a restaurant that offers salads, sandwiches, and dressings, will be located in the former Magruder’s space in Vienna, VA. I definitely like to try their Vegetarian Powerhouse from their menu. What about you?

Community Yard Sale in Annadale, VA Fire Department Recap

The second annual community yard sale event was held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 8am-2pm in the parking lot of the Annandale Fire Station at 7128 Columbia Pike. The yard sale had several vendors including independent consultants at the event. Below are a few photos taken of the event including independent consultants.

Scentsy

Katherine Gifford is the owner of Maya Cosmetics that makes nail polish. I asked Maya what are some of the popular nail polish customers like. Pet Fiesta in Reston Town Center, VA Recap 2014

The Pet Fiesta was held on Saturday, May 3, 2014 in Reston Town Center. This event had various exhibits including pet products, pet adoptions, interactive activities, demonstrations, and on-stage entertainment. This was a great opportunity for pet owners to enjoy this exciting day of events.

Taste of Merrifield, VA at Mosaic District May 3rd

If you missed Taste of Vienna, then why not stop by Taste of Merrifield.  The event will be held in the 2900 block of District Avenue from 12:00pm-8:00pm with live entertainment, children's activities, local restaurants, and a beer garden.

Town of Vienna Green Expo Recap

It was such a great opportunity to attend the Green Expo that was held at the Town of Vienna Community Center on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 6:30am-9:00pm. The expo featured over 35 local and regional exhibitors providing useful ideas on how to green your lifestyle to the public. Topics from the exhibitors included eco-friendly transportation, environmental awareness, electronics recycling, home energy audit, clean energy, and automobile alternative fuel options.

Walk, Bike, Shop Vienna!
The exhibitor handed me a sheet and mentioned that local businesses are participating in the Walk, Bike, Shop Vienna from May 3-May 2014. She pointed out that this initiative is to encourage individuals to support the local business via walking or biking to the local businesses. Participating local businesses will donate 5% of purchases made by individuals to local PTA’s.

I am glad that I stopped by this table because I have two computers that need recycling. eAssets Solutions provide recycling solutions for computer and electronic assets. They mentioned that if you want equipment shredded, the cost is $5 dollars.

Beautifying the neighborhood parks is the objective of this exhibitor. I picked up a Park Guide and ask the exhibitor which park(s) are the most popular and recommended to view. He mentioned Glyndon Park and Sarah Walker Mercer Park.

The Town of Vienna Green Expo was encouraging that it gave attention to find more ways to reduce our carbon footprint.

Bike to Work Day is May 16th

Bike to Work Day is an annual event that will be held on May 16, 2014. This event encourages people to ride their bicycles to and from work. This event is free and the first 14,000 who register and attend this event will receive a free T-shirt at their registered pit stop location. Also attendees will have a chance to win prizes as well.

There will be 79 pit stops locations in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.  And this year, Fairfax, VA will have 14 pit stops locations in the morning. This gives bicyclists the opportunity to meet other bicyclists during this event.

Harris Teeter Coming to Falls Church, VA

301 West Broad Street Falls Church, VA

Looks like Harris Teeter and apartment rentals are coming to Falls Church, VA. Development of this project will be led by Rushmark Properties. According to their website, “the address will feature 288 residential units, 60,000 square foot Harris Teeter grocery store, and 3,470 square feet of retail”.  Their website does not mentioned parking but I am assuming that parking will be included possibly underground.

They have fenced off this area where the old post office and Anthony’s restaurant once resided. The estimated date of completion is 2015 according to Rushmark Properties website.

True Food Kitchen is coming to Mosaic District Summer 2014

I saw this signage as I was visiting Mosaic District that True Food Kitchen will open its doors in summer 2014. According to True Food Kitchen website, their goal is to promote an anti-inflammatory diet. The restaurant will offer a healthy selection of vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and other options promoting healthy living. Dickey's Barbecue Pit Opens in Merrifield, VA

I drove by this a while ago and saw that Dickey's Barbecue was opening in the Halstead Square area of Merrifield, VA. According to Dickey's Barbecue Pit Facebook, they had their grand opening Thursday, March 27-Saturday, March 29, 2014. If you like Barbecue, stop by at Dickey's Barbecue which is located at 2750-J Gallows Road in Vienna, Virginia.
